Vid for me! Murdering Stravinsky, Farscape, lithiumdoll: YouTube, AO3

Look, ever since I realized that “dressing up as fascists” was perfect for this fandom, I’ve wanted this vid, and LithiumDoll does it great justice. The internal motion and even internal lighting changes are perfect for the disorientation and cruelty of the song. And there’s so many canonical references that are perfect—all the things they do that hurt others, and each other, by meaning to or by meaning to be good or both. The nuclear bomb and the beautiful, horrible wormhole equations that represent both art and death.

A very good bad review of a Netflix animated sff series, Love, Death and Robots.

1. Lucifer is very satisfying to me right now. Maze and Chloe as roommates is exactly the fanservice I desired.

2. I love gothy covers of Sarah McLachlan’s Possession, but it occurs to me that they are a bit mansplainy. She did, after all, know that she was writing about a stalker.

3. Words cannot really describe how much I want a Farscape vid to Murdering Stravinsky.  Dining on each other! Dressing up as fascists! Killing off the past to make the future last!  Dancing on the coals!

Farscape rewatch: completed. I’m not even “fannish” in the way I consider core fannishness for me; this show doesn’t itch at me to do more. I just love it. (Not that I’d say no to Chiana’s Nebari politics arc.)  OK, I do have one thought. )

SPN rewatch: begun. This one will take a very long time, especially as winter hiatus ends. Pilot thought: apple pie life )

OK, just finished S1 of Farscape rewatch, and can we talk about how awesome 1x22, Family Ties was as an episode and a season ender? hard to call this spoilery, really, but if you haven't seen Farscape you should go and do that now )
It all gets even better later, with St. John of the Uncharted Territories. But this is pretty wonderful.

I posted some of my favorite screencaps on tumblr. (screencap source)

The bonus meta post is well worth reading, and to my mind bears some eerie similarities to the reasons given by Jeff Koons for why he copied fashion photos in his painting Niagara, reasons which led a federal court to find that he was engaged in fair use.  As [personal profile] thingswithwings points out, there were dozens of examples to choose from without thinking hard, and that's what makes this such a useful commentary.  Also, I like excluding John Crichton for the reason given!

I can't get over how gorgeous John and Aeryn were in Bone to Be Wild and Family Ties.  That's all.

END

Might be time for another trip through Farscape, which would make four full watches. I've already watched the whole series more than I've watched the XF, BtVS, SV, or SPN, and it's unlikely I'd go back to any but BtVS. Farscape's just really satisfying, somehow.

(ETA, forgot: the Lazy Gun is from Iain Banks.  I like it a lot.)
