Yeah, I don't expect realism from TV in any sense, which is probably also why I try to stick to fantasy/sf. Any field you know, you know will be misportrayed in pop culture and it will be difficult to watch! Just look at how media fans are portrayed by shows that rely on ... media fans.
For me, the legal stuff has political consequences that are direct and obvious when I look at nonfiction public discourse about the court system, which picks up on the same biased ideas, while meanwhile we are spending billions throwing drug users in jail.
